Upper Dee

IMG_7056As we approach March and snow laying thick and fast on the ground, the anticipation for those lucky enough to be out fishing the Upper Dee is at its highest level as that means beats from above Aboyne are now open for business.

With the February high water earlier on there are thoughts turning to whether there might just be a few springers eager for the take on the Upper reaches of the Dee. Certainly with a cracking fish caught in the final week of February at Ballogie you just never know!
It will be cold out, the forecast will bring more snow showers but the water levels and clarity are absolutely perfect so wrap up warm and get yourself out there for a cast. The photos below show the clarity of the water and the conditions you will be facing. The photo in the sunshine is of Mitchell’s pool on Monaltrie  then 1 hour later the snow coming in and making things quite t dark and moody – only to be sunny again 1 hour later!!! Thats Scottish weather for you!
My set up is a Sink one two Loop line I am trying for the first time and a a wee monkey to see if that might temp them. Right – let’s get at them – tight lines!!
